Butcher Park Hill, Tavistock Housing Application Refused

The recent application to build 110 new houses on a greenfield site on the outskirts of Tavistock was rejected, by the West Devon BC Planning Committee, by a unanimous vote. The application had met with overwhelming local opposition, and had been recommended for refusal by the Planning Officers. Serious questions are now being raised at how such an inappropriate development had been given support by Tavistock Town Council, following a meeting attended by only 3 members of the town council. Full story in the Tavistock Times, 3 July.

The developers, Trand, had earlier claimed that they would launch an appeal if the application was rejected, in spite of the fact that the site has already been deemed totally unsuitable for residential housing by a Planning Inspector, following an appeal in 2010.
