Nymet Rowland, near Crediton, Mid Devon – small leisure development refused permission – November 2024

Local residents are delighted that a development of log cabins on a greenfield site has been refused by Mid Devon District Council. We had objected to the planning application, in support of our local members.  Reasons for refusal given by the Local Planning Authority include:

‘The proposed development, comprising the siting of 4 cabins for use as holiday lets is considered to be unacceptable. By virtue of its scale, siting, design and given the topography of the site, the development would have a significant adverse and harmful impact on the character and appearance of the rural area. The development fails to demonstrate a clear understanding of the characteristics of the site and surrounding area, and would result in a visually intrusive and incongruous form of development within the countryside to the detriment of the rural area’.
