Young Defenders Are Our Future

In an increasingly digital, networked world it’s becoming more and more important to keep ourselves grounded in the natural world around us.

Young people growing up in Devon have a great advantage in life, surrounded by the green natural environment that physically calms and soothes us and enhances our mental health. Joining with their friends and peers to celebrate and protect that wonderful heritage offers a whole new level of satisfaction and personal fulfilment.

Young Devon Defenders are interested in the world around them and the special qualities of rural Devon. They get regular e-bulletins to keep them up to date with our work, and access to the resources of CPRE to promote access to the countryside and offer new ways of appreciating its assets, like hedge laying, bat spotting, exploring Roman landscapes, appreciating dark skies or identifying finds on the seashore.

Best Young Landscape Artists

Our annual Devon’s Best Young Landscape Artist competition challenges young people – from age 7 to 18 –to look again at the rural world around them and see its real qualities. We have had some stunning and imaginative entries from young people interpreting what their favourite landscapes mean to them.

Young Defenders will be notified about this, our new Future Countryside Awards and upcoming initiatives like our Centenary Young Activists Project as they happen.

If you want to be a Young Defender, fill out the form on the Devon Defenders page to get started.
